We were staying in La Casa Del Farol for 3 days. This hotel is a real jewel. Each room is different and each one is a piece of art. The hotel is located in the very center of Santa Marta but only 150m away from a beach. There is a good choice of restaurants around as well. The owners and the personnel were making us feeling like home there. The hotel organizes personized trips with English speaking guides. We took two - one to the mountains and jungle (fantastic Quebrada Valencia) and the second to Playa Cristal in the Tayrona park. Both were colorful, interesting and very relaxing. We're wishing all the best to the owners and keeping fingers crossed for the hotel.

I greatly enjoyed the hotel, it was nicely decorated and reasonably clean with quiet location by the sea. The breakfast was savoury and varied of at least 8 different options; and the staff was attentive. Location: the property was just off the main square where a lot of the nightly action takes place as well as a good base to go to Park Tayrona.

The rooms are themed and air conditioned here with desk & chair, nice furnishings plus minibar containing Pepsi.

Thoroughly enjoyed the well-furnished room with a balcony and a complimentary beer. the hotel's location was great, just a short walk to Santa Marta, the seaside, major attractions, and the airport. - Convenient to have Go Green nearby for grabbing something to eat.

Service was great. The owners and staff go out of their way to satisfy their client. Breakfast is very nice. The rooms are well decorated, very clean. They also have a restaurant just in front of the hotel, which serves excellent food in a beautiful setting. I highly recommend this boutique hotel.

We got great value for our money with a spacious and comfortable suite room that had an interesting New York theme. The hotel's location in the old part of town was perfect, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and at home.

The morning meal could have been better with more choices, as we had to pick either eggs, fruits, or cereals.

Too expensive specially taking into account that La Casa del Farol hotel is located in downtown Santa Marta which is a popular tourist spot for Colombians, however Santa Marta is really a backwater town, undeveloped and lacking any real historic interest. The beaches are terrible, even the ones close to the town (Rodadero, Playa Grande, Playa Blanca) are not that nice. Services are also pretty basic. In short, a town to avoid unless you are interested in natural parks and then you would rather stay in an eco-hut inside Tayrona Park itself.

The hotel was tastefully decorated and the owner and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent.

Excellent, friendly staff willing to go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home. Beautiful rooms with real character. Delicious breakfast. Definitely the best place I stayed whilst in Colombia and well worth the money.
